WHAT WE DID
PROJECT:
Hampton
A growing family in San Jose had just moved into a new home. They needed to remodel before their latest arrival. Construction was already underway from the build-out, so this family quickly needed a design and cabinetry that fit their new kitchen space.
Working collaboratively with the family, KDS designed a space with lots of storage, felt light, and was decorative, without being too ornate.
The cabinetry selection dictated a lot of the style, so we chose inset doors with a recessed panel and an ogee detail in classic white from Ovation Cabinetry. Decorative end panels for the pantry and ovens added some polish. The family chose white subway tiles for the backsplash and beautiful, Terra Bianca quartzite on the counters, suggesting lightness and airiness. Grounding the space is dark, hand-scraped hardwood to contrast with the other materials. For visual interest and pop, a spring green paint was used on the walls and the base of the peninsula.
